CHAKRA HALL & LOUNGE - BSD

One of the recommended casual dining place in Tangerang, located right at The Breeze BSD. This place was firstly famous by it's lavish lake view restaurant and many celebrities were getting married there. There, I experienced a new normal procedure while enjoying our meal.

CHAKRA has a very huge area with a beautiful lake as its view. They have an indoor and out door area available for a wedding hall AND they also have a beautiful wedding chapel.

Usually they close half of the area for public if they scheduled a wedding celebration and customer can only sit on the outdoor front area near the bar. Luckily, there's no wedding yesterday when I came so I chose to sit indoor since it's raining outside.

They ran a physical distancing and safety protocol while eating, so the capacity only has 50% maximum and we were suggested to sit at a distance to each other.

Let's talk about their food. They generally serve both western and Indonesian food but more variety on the western menu.

CHICKEN CORDON BLEU (IDR 79K)

A very reasonable price for a flavor like this. Quite original taste with a perfect crunch. The chicken was not too juicy but still have a fine tender level. The cheese was more than just a standard.

FISH AND CHIPS (IDR 93K)

For me to be honest, this Fish & Chips were too pricy. There's nothing special with this food frankly but I appreciate their dipping cream, it's good and one of a kind. The fish was apparently fresh but I think they need to improve the way they floured the fish.

BACON SAUSAGE PIZZA (IDR 76K)

Overall, this pizza was fine. It consisted of 8 thin crust slices with beef bacon and sausage. Like what I can say to Chicken Cordon Bleu, they had an outstanding cheese for it. The combination of beef bacon, sausage and other topping were just fine. The crunch was also satisfying,  I like it a lot.

FETTUCCINE MEATBALL - CREAMY (IDR 70K)

I believe their specialty is Pasta cause they serve a very great Fettuccine. It was well cooked and I love their meatballs it's so tasteful. The cream was thick and delicious, really well proven as a restaurant quality.

KAMPOENG FRIED RICE (IDR 70K)

I didn't order another Indonesian food so I didn't have any benchmark but this Fried Rice is worth to try. Probably one of the best fried rice here. I like their Sate Lilit, it had very juicy and delicious meat.

Overall, my favorite menu were Fettuccine Meatball and Kampoeng Fried Rice. I didn't order various beverage menu but I recommend their Thai Green Tea (IDR 35K), truly heaven on earth.

CEMIL CIMOL - a very fun way to eat Cimol

Over the last couple of months, I've noticed that people's attention to local businesses has been increasing. It is shown that a lot of people were posting in their social media to support local businesses, which is a good thing.

I want to share one of my most favourite local snack I've been discovered since a very long time, in 2014 I believe. Who is familiar with CIMOL? Cimol is an Indonesian local snack made from starch. It is surely known for a street food lover. Well, Cimol is rounded starch dough, then fried and served with additional spices.

Cemil Cimol is a local Cimol brand since 2009 and levelling up this traditional snack into an all new and modern way. Meanwhile Cimol is traditionally eaten only with spices but Cemil Cimol innovate them by adding cheese or beef inside of the dough or serving them with additional mayo or modern seasonings (which I mean is unusual).

I order all of their signature (Original, Cheese and Beef) with 7 different seasonings (BBQ, Balado, Keju Pedas, Jagung, Asin Pedas, Seaweed). It costed IDR37K for cooked 50 grains of Original Cimol and IDR 32K for each cooked 25 grains of Cheese and Beef Cimol.

I love all of them, either the Original, Cheese or Beef one but my favourite the Beef Cimol! Beef Cimol sized a little bigger than the other and apparently it also had cheese wrapped by the beef as well. The Cimol ball was very bite size without too tough to chew. It is soft enough, won't hurt your mouth!

For the seasonings, my best list were BBQ, Balado & Jagung. They gave a lot of seasonings for us so it is very fun to have more than one seasoning to mix with the other, it created a unique taste. It's like playing shake and serve.

It is highly recommended to be eaten while hot because it will be crunchy and chewy at the same time. A little note is you should pay attention to the delivery time, please take an express delivery if you need the meal to be ready on time to your table, other than that everything was brilliant from Cemil Cimol, I love it so much.

Oh and also they have a hampers package with customise note if you'd like to send them to your family or friends, make them enjoy the fun that you share!

MUTE TRIES EVERYTHING - AT STARBUCKS [PART 14]

I always feel excited to have this segment can't wait to write another more. It feels good every single time cause this segment's like my digital journal about what I have been eating in a particular resto. Actually, I almost through trying all menus in Starbucks, I've been thinking what will I should try next, any thought?

Oh and a little bad news, my camera's broken and it's about repairing right now so I took this picture only with my camera phone, I'm sad and I hope the result's still good enough.

Okay, so without too many further-a-do here's what I order this week at Starbucks:

CARAMEL JAVA CHIP FRAPPUCCINO - ADDITIONAL MOCHA SYRUP & JELLY (grande - IDR 66K)

Yummy, sweet and refreshing! This became my favourite all of a sudden. For a not so coffee drinker like me, this is like a cup of joy! The taste of their coffee can balance by the sweetness of caramel. They added extra mocha power and mocha syrup on top of the whipped cream, be careful guys you can be sugar rush after.

Extra jelly and mocha syrup is optional actually so feel free to have them or not. But I recommend to add extra jelly cause it's really nice!

MINI LOLLIPOPS (IDR 10K)

Tiny but tasteful candy, I had three flavour which are Strawberry, Lemon Citron and Cola. My favourite is Strawberry! I don't drink soda and I don't really like how it tastes but this Starbuck's Cola Pops was far acceptable for me. Lemon Citron is also very refreshing and I love the mixture of sweet and sour into one piece of happiness.

BALI DARK 64% CHOCOLATE

It's vegan, dairy free and no palm oil so basically this chocolate bar is healthy and no guilty feelings right after I ate it. This dark chocolate was grown is Bali and only sweetened by coconut blossom sugar. It's seriously an antioxidant, should be a great snack to consume.

No need to ask for the taste, it's completely delicious! Rich of chocolate served with very light sweetness but not too bitter as well.

Ok then, thank you so much for reading this segment always and I hope all of you can enjoy a Starbuck's menu as much as I always. Have a great weekend!

SOTO KWALI SEMAR - Pasar Modern BSD

How are you everyone? Is it going better out there in your life or business or stuffs? I hope you guys are safe and healthy always. It's a long weekend out here, I had no plans to go on a trip so I just stayed home and explored my city's local culinary.

This week I found a local great and unique Soto place for lunch, not really far from my home and it's in the middle of a modern community market. Its name is Soto Kwali Semar. You need to enter the market first to find this place, cause they don't really put a big signage so it's a little bit hard to find them.

Soto is a very Indonesian famous food, it's a soup basically with meat or vegetable broth and has chicken or meat and vegetable as a topping. There's a lot of Soto restaurant, big or small in Indonesia, so you will have a lot to explore.

Why they named it Soto Kwali Semar because they serve it on a cauldron which in Bahasa means "Kwali/Kuali". They open from 7 am to 3.30 PM so it's available for breakfast and lunch and please note this, they are super affordable! Let's take a look to what food they served me yesterday.

SOTO KWALI CHICKEN (IDR 15K) & SOTO KWALI BEEF WITH RICE (IDR 20K)

It combined the soup with meat (chicken or beef), bean sprouts and fried onions. They served it in a tiny portion so I recommend you to order more than one bowl, especially for lunch hahaha.

The soup was beautifully yellow as a sign of rich spices used but the thickness was not exaggerated. The taste was quite light for Soto. It very smelly and tasty, I love it so much. I think the beef Soto is better than the chicken one.

KUPAT TAHU (IDR 25K)

Kupat Tahu is also a traditional Indonesian food made from ketupat (that's why they named it"Kupat"), fried tofu, vegetables and poured with peanut sauce.

The food was delicious and I love their peanut sauce. Not the best Kupat Tahu in town but it's worth to try and also the price is extremely affordable.

Another interesting part from Soto Kwali Semar is they also serve local traditional snacks which already rare in this kind of day. I tried also their tasty Grontol (boiled corn served with grated coconut and sugar) and Lupis (sticky rice with grated coconut and brown sugar sauce) and every bite was a serious heaven, highly recommend to cure your yearning to Indonesian traditional snacks.

You know what, I got a lot of information that Pasar Modern BSD has a lot of hidden culinary gems inside it. So maybe next time I'll go there again to explore more their interesting culinary. See you!
